For this activity we had to make a slide about Celebrating My Success we had 9 tasks to do on the slide. I think this activity was fun and quite easy and I think that you should make a Celebrating My Success slide. out of all of the tasks my favourite was the photo montage it was really fun.

Opinion Sharing
This term we have been doing oral language and and for oral language we have been doing statement of the week. Every time we do statement of the week our teacher gives us a statement and we have to write at least 2 reasons for agreeing and 2 reasons for disagreeing with this idea. Before we started Statement of the week we had to pick a group to do it with and as you can probably see on the front my group was Molly, Ruby, Zyah, Zoe and me. I think that this activity was a great learning experience.

Show not Tell
This week we have been working on describing and we have been focusing on show not tell. Our teacher gave us a picture of a scared cat and then we had to describe it with out telling that the cat was frightened or scared. I kind of liked the activity because you got to write paragraphs and I like writing paragraphs. We had to use our senses, simile or metaphor and precise nouns, verbs and adjectives to describe. Can you find my simile?

Problem solving
WALT: Apply our maths strategies to real life word problems.
For this activity we had to read the question carefully. Then we had to decide which parts of the question is the most important information and highlight what would help us solve the problem. After that we had to work out the equations and record down our answers as well as our working out.
I tried to make my working out look easy so you would under stand it if you don't know your times tables. I enjoyed this activity a lot because maths is one of my favourite subjects.
What is yours?

Fraction Thinkboard
This term we have been looking at fractions. Today we had to show our understanding of fractions on a think board.
First we chose a fraction and put it in the oval. Then we had to show this fraction as a collection, as a shape, the equivalent fractions, the fraction in words, the fraction on a number line and last of all as a decimal.
I think I went quite well on this task. The part I found the most difficult was converting to decimals and showing the fraction on a number line. I need to do more practice to get better at this.

Fairy Tale Setting Map
This week we have been working on fairy tales and books. My literacy group has been working on the story, The Three Billy Goats Gruff. First we listened to the story on YouTube. Then we had to draw a setting map either on paper or a drawing. I chose a drawing because I am not very good at drawing. I think I went pretty well at this task and also think that it was okay because I don't really like making.

Fairy Tales in the Library
For literacy this week we have been looking at fairy tales and we also looked at them when we went to our school library. Our teacher told us to look for a fairy tale in the library so we did. It took us a while because we looked in the fiction section first and then realised that they were in the non fiction section. After that we had to make a drawing and write what makes a fairy tale. I think that this was a cool experience because we got to look up fairy tales and what makes fairy tales.

Loch ness Monster - True or False?
Over the last couple of weeks we have been looking at unsolved mysteries. The main mystery we have been looking at is the Loch Ness monster/Nessie. This week we read some information about the monster and we highlighted all of the keywords in the paragraph that told us what it looks like. Then we drew a picture of Nessie and labeled all of the parts of the drawing.

My Treasure
WALT: Use conjunctions to join our ideas together.
WALT: Include descriptive detail.
This week we had to describe a personal treasure. What we did was we had to use at least a couple of fanboys on our paragraphs in our slides. I think that this task was interesting and fun and made me think more on description. I think I was ok at this task although I think I could do better at it. I think what I could do better next time is that I could describe my object even more and do bigger paragraphs. My precious/treasure item is my teddy bear as you probably saw in the slide.
Comment below what your treasure/precious item is.

I think that this activity was fun because you get to write problems with clues.

Descriptive Sentence Writing Week 2
This week we have been looking at nikau palm trees and started writing about them. We wrote about the trunk, the leaves and the seeds. We also did a topic sentence and a concluding sentence for our paragraph. For our blog we picked two of the sentences we did and here are mine:
The nikau palm tree is native to the New Zealand. It has a lumpy trunk, green and spiky leaves and little brown seeds.
Nikau palm trees have tiny little brown seeds. They are brown and look like acorns and nuts.
