Show not Tell

This week we have been working on describing and we have been focusing on show not tell. Our teacher gave us a picture of a scared cat and then we had to describe it with out telling that the cat was frightened or scared. I kind of liked the activity because you got to write paragraphs and I like writing paragraphs. We had to use our senses, simile or metaphor and precise nouns, verbs and adjectives to describe.  Can you find my simile?

  1. I am glad you enjoyed this task. I like the use of "fur puffing liking a puffer fish", that helped me imagine that it was scared. :-)

  2. Kia Ora Aoife, my name is Kyra and I am a Year 7 student in Totara 3. I like your post on Show not Tell because the way you have used your senses well in your writing.

This reminds me of using descriptive language and similes/metaphors. I like to use metaphors more than similes. What do you prefer?

I do like the gradient background you used but maybe use a different colour as the words in the darker section were slightly hard to read.

    Amazing work and great writing!
